Whether you feel like getting some shopping done at the same time or having a nice afternoon at the shore, there are several opportunities to take a twirl on a pop-up ice rink in Orange County this holiday season.

The Irvine Spectrum has a rink open daily, except Christmas, that is sponsored by the Anaheim Ducks. There are skates available for rental. General admission is $25 and there are children, senior and military discounts.

Surf City Winter Wonderland features a rink at Huntington Beach’s Pier Plaza for that oh-so Southern California experience of beachfront ice skating. The rink will be open daily through Jan. 8; check online for hours. It costs $22 a skater.

Also there will be ice skating in Mission Viejo’s Civic Center Plaza from Dec. 5 to 12. Rudolph’s Rink will feature 40 minute sessions starting each hour from 4 to 8 p.m. weekdays and 2 to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Skate rentals cost $12.

And, Santa Ana’s Winter Village will open a rink at the Orange County Civic Center’s Plaza of the Flags from Dec. 8 through Jan. 8. Tickets range $10 to $15 and can be found on the city’s website.
