Josh Beaty is the new boys basketball coach at Fountain Valley, the school announced Thursday.

Beaty coached the past four seasons at Buena Park. Before that he coached at Valley Christian of Cerritos and Crean Lutheran. He led the Saints to a CIF Southern Section championship in the 2017-18 season.

At Fountain Valley he replaces Roger Holmes, who remains at Fountain Valley as athletic director. Holmes coached the Barons for the 2022-23 season, stepping into the job when D’Cean Bryant left Fountain Valley to become the coach at Sage Hill.

Fountain Valley finished 18-11 overall and was third in the Surf League with a 2-4 league record. The Barons lost to Simi Valley in the first round of the CIF-SS Division 2AA playoffs.
