The Habit Burger & Grill is offering a trio of value meals for a short time
“Gotta Habit” meals include a half sandwich, sides and a drink at participating locations through July 9.
The meals start at $6 for a half BBQ Grilled Chicken Sandwich, choice of side and a regular drink. Choices for the side include fries, Tempura Green Beans and a side salad but not Onion Rings, Chicken Bites or Sweet Potato Fries.
The $8 Meal Deal includes a half Chicken Club, choice of side and a large drink.
The $10 Meal Deal includes a half Santa Barbara Char, five-piece Chicken Bites, choice of an additional side and a large drink.
We tried the $10 deal and got a lot of food approximately half price.
Half sandwiches aren’t on the Habit menu, but a full-sized Santa Barbara Char runs about $9.99. Incidentally, it’s a cheeseburger on grilled sourdough with avocado, lettuce and onion.
Sides are $4.79, except for five-piece Chicken Bites, which run $5.99.
We were offered the chance to add on a dip for an additional 60 cents. Choices included teriyaki, spicy red pepper, sweet mustard, barbecue and signature ranch. We choise the ranch.
The side salad, which was recently upgraded, includes shaved white cheddar and croutons. We were offered choice of dressing and chose Miso Ginger.
Large soft drinks are $3.99. The Habit serves Pepsi products but also its own “hand-made juices.” We chose Dragonfruit Lime.
Our total with tax was $10.88. If ordered separately, the items — minus the half sandwich — would run $14.77 plus tax.
The Habit promotion comes nearly a year after McDonald’s introduced its highly publicized $5 meal deal, which actually cost $6 in many instances. That deal was supposed to be short-lived but is still available, tucked away in McDonald’s McValue menu.
McDonald’s meal deal cost little but offer kid-sized portions. The Gotta Habit meals feature full-sized portions, except for the half sandwich, which wasn’t small. We asked for a bag and took home half the meal.
Incidentally, The Habit has announced the men selected for its “Hot Dads of Habit x UFC Gym” five-month calendar, which promotes the chain’s new salads. Three of the five dads are in Southern California.
They are Ron Smith of Moreno Valley, “Mr. Mango Miso Crunch”; Wenzy Reyes of Murrieta, “Mr. Grilled Chicken Caesar”; and Zach Sowers of Los Angeles, “Mr. Side Salad.”
The calendar costs $24.99, with proceeds going to the Habit Restaurants Foundation.
